Empowerment Technology

Empowerment refers to the process of giving yourself, or other people, the capacity to achieve a specific end goal. Technology literacy is the ability to use digital technology and communication tools to define an information need, access, manage, integrate, and evaluate to able to communicate this information to others.

Empowerment Technologies is designed to provide students with the foundation of knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the Digital Technology Age.

Empowerment Technology examples:

 Communication & Information Access:

  •  Smartphones: Enable access to information and facilitate communication, particularly valuable in areas with limited infrastructure.

 Education & Skill Development:

  • Online Learning Platforms (e.g., Coursera, Khan Academy): Provide educational resources, allowing individuals to acquire new skills and advance their careers.
  • Website Builders (e.g., Wix): Allow users to create websites easily, enabling them to start businesses or showcase talents without needing coding skills.

 Business & Entrepreneurship:

  •  E-commerce Platforms (e.g., Etsy, Shopify): Empower individuals to sell products or services online, expanding their reach as entrepreneurs.

  1. GPS Navigation Apps (e.g., Waze): Help individuals navigate unfamiliar areas, improving mobility and access to resources.
